SPEED: [spéd] noun - the rate at which someone or something is able to operate | 03:23AM Jul 19, 2007

Hello all, my apologies for the random missed day of posting. Apparently, my Internet decided that yesterday would be a great time to take a vacation, you know with the lovely warm weather and all. So, after negotiating with the cable company for about 45 minutes I was able to get them to agree to an appointment this Thursday, only problem is that he is suspected to show up anywhere from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. Oh boy, how I love corporate America!

Anyways, enough whining lets move on to the important stuff. As you can see I was able to push out another Rally photo, and yes this time it even has cars in it! Now, what you may not have seen is that I have included a lovely little video (below) to accompany my upcoming rally series. Yes, that’s right folks Mark has stepped over to the dark side, that is photos that move, no need to fear though, I promise my return to the Force will be a hurried one. All right, well that was certainly enough Star Wars references for one post, so lets move onto the subject of tonight’s discussion, the New England Forest Rally.

The Rally began last Thursday as Ryan and I departed for Bethel, Maine. The two-day event started Friday morning and ended over a 100 miles later on Saturday night. Nothing like 100 miles of dirt, rocks, and gasoline fumes to get your heart pumping, that’s what I say. Luckily, enough for you Ryan brought our trusty video camera along for the ride. So, what does our video presentation offer? Well, a first time behind the scenes look at Mark Fleming shooting on location. Please, hold your laughter till the end.

The still for this evening is as you have probably figured out a panoramic image. I created this composition by stitching together five hand-held images using Photoshop’s new and improved Photomerge. Let me tell you, that one little feature has improved so much since CS2 it is astounding. For those of you who haven’t switched over, I would recommend downloading the trial version just to play around with that one feature. Amazing! In any event, what you see before you is the very beginning of the race. The alignment of the cars is done in preparation for an event called Parque Exposé. Don’t worry. I didn’t know what it meant either. Turns out that in laymen’s terms it simply means a very big show and tell. The drivers all park their cars, shiny and new, for the public to admire. For this particular event it is actually a pretty cool idea, mostly because in less that 20 minutes all the cars look like they have been to hell and back. Welcome to the Maine woods!

I hope you all enjoy the photograph as well as the video, please take a moment and leave me your thoughts. I will also be happy to answer any questions you may have about the event, the cars, or the drivers participating. Stay tuned, much more Rally to come!
