Out with the Old – In with the New | 06:37AM Feb 03, 2008

Awhile back I posted a shot of a cruise ship docked in Portland Harbor. That cruise ship was docked next to one Portland’s newest additions, the new and improved ferry terminal. The terminal has been under construction over the past year, and with an expected opening date sometime this spring, will allow for even bigger cruise ships to dock in the Port City.

Now, a short ways down the shore from this sparkly new terminal are the remnants of some of Portland’s first piers. All that is left now are the pylons sticking up through the water. Some leaning, some charred, these hundred or so logs pounded into the mud are rattled with signs of the past.

Taking my lead from a fellow blogger, Tom Kazsuba whom I greatly admire, I decided to head down to the shore this evening and see if I couldn’t wait out some long exposures. Armed with a couple of apples and a new playlist on my iPod I felt confident enough to take on the world. All right so probably not the world but at least a few 10 minute exposures.

Blah, Blah, Blah – I am going to get up tomorrow at the ass-crack of dawn to head down there again and give it another go. So, until then – enjoy!
