Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce Slugger, the Portland Sea Dog’s official mascot. Yes, that’s right a Sea Dog, probably wouldn’t have been my first choice for a mascot but hey, you can’t win um all.

I snapped this shot as Ryan and I made our way out of the park, a few minutes after the lights went down on Broadway. While strolling past our bat-wielding friend here, I happened to notice a discarded ticket lying crumpled on the sidewalk.

Reaching into my bag of tricks I pulled out my handy dandy 24-105 and dropped onto the sidewalk. With the help of a book and piece of paper towel from Ryan’s bag I was able to prop my camera up on the sidewalk. Keeping the lens roughly a half and inch above the brick, I was able to just barely squeeze Slugger into the frame.

Processing here is pretty generic, done almost entirely in Adobe Lightroom. First adjusting the exposure and contrast, then I removed the intense color cast caused by the streetlights and replaced it with a hint of selenium toning. To finish things off I ended with my one of my favorite tricks, a little cross processing for a bit of extra mood.
