My 500C and Me | 06:11PM Oct 22, 2007
Self-portraits are always tough. Afterall, we are in a sense shooting our most difficult subject.
Here, you see my the fabled Hasselblad 500C, that I was humbled by this past weekend, as well as your friendly neighborhood photographer. To capture this guy, I first set up my tripod complete with 5D, focused on the pole directly behind me, set my timer, and quickly jumped into the frame.
It took a few shots before I finally captured something worth while. However, when all was said and done, I practically had myself a senior portrait portfolio.
I brought this puppy into Photomatix, ran her through tone mapping, and then with my final HDR complete entered into the wonderful world of Photoshop. Seeing as my original HDR was as flat as a pancake, my first move was to selectively navigate my way around the image using curves adjustment layers. I find that by using individual curves layers, I am move accurately able to adjust contrast through out the entire image. For final touches I added a minor vignette and brought down my saturation.
As they say, there is nothing worse than a narcissistic photographer. Don't you agree?
