Lighting bolts, satellites, and race cars … oh my! | 05:48AM Nov 20, 2007

During our trip to Boston, Elizabeth and I decided to relive a bit of our childhood.

If there is one thing, which children who attend elementary school in the Northeast look forward to each year, it is the much-anticipated field trip to the Boston Muesum of Science.

Rated among the top science museums in the country, this three story tribute to all things science is still captivating young minds. Liz and I, having reminisced about our fond memories, decided to stop in.

Unfortunately, as is often the case, our memories were deceiving. Perhaps it was our short stature at the time, but we both remembered everything being much grander than it was.

A perfect example being the world famous indoor lightning show. This spectacle was so mind boggling to me as a child that I still can remember walking out of the auditorium, my hands held firmly over my ears, in complete awe. This time, however, the lightning simply didn’t impress. In fact, I had to combine a total of six different exposures to get all the strikes you see in the image above.

I suppose what they say is true, when you are young you cannot wait to grow up and when you are all grown up you wish you were young again. One thing is for sure, things do seem much more impressive when you’re only a hair over 4 foot.
