Nature is a beautiful thing. I know that may very well be stating the obvious, however, each time I enter her domain I find myself newly and equally astounded. These are the moments when I look around, realize the immense beauty that surrounds me, and thank god that this is my job.

I am not entirely sure, however, I think I forgot to mention in yesterday’s post that Ryan and I had traveled roughly two hours into the mountains of Western Maine to visit Grafton Notch State Park.

Nestled among towering peaks, Grafton Notch is an idyllic diamond in the rough, complete with a crystal clear mountain stream. This constant flow of water, in conjunction with the retreat of the last ice age, has created this glorious natural gorge over time immemorial.

Add some great late afternoon light streaming in from above and we have ourselves a slot canyon effect right here in the hills of Maine. Pretty cool, huh?

Processing you ask? Well, I started with six separate exposures, roughly one stop apart, from -2 through to +2. I then proceeded along my usual HDR workflow, threw in some sugar, spice, and a little heavenly goodness and viola! A pretty picture. Amazing, I know
