I’m Back! | 10:11AM Dec 10, 2007

All right, well after a few days of sleepless nights my beloved G5 has finally been returned to me. I feel as if I have lost a loved one when I am without it. I do apologize for the technical delays of late. To make of for it I have decided to pull out all the stops on this shot from ground zero.

What really struck me about ground zero was the immense amount of construction that is taking place. I was photographically drawn to the grit and dirt that clung almost every surface, and especially the worker’s clothes.

Here, my goal was to try and compose a shot that showed the juxtaposition between the gritty construction worker and the clean cut suits walking up the stairs in front of him. This shot is a prime example of when, I feel, HDR helps make a shot more powerful. Without HDR, the grit simply fades into the image. Here, it becomes a major part of the image.

I am exceptionally pleased with the end result here. However, as always I am anxious to hear your opinion.
