I know, I know. I promised more surf photos tonight. However, can you blame me for tossing these guys in to spice things up a bit?
The story is, a fellow friend, and photographer, has been working on a project of late that really is quite intriguing. She shoots strictly 4x5 black and white, so in a word she’s a purist of the art. Her latest idea is to capture intimate portraits and action shots of circus performers. Due to the lack of modern day circus performers, however, she has had to transform some of her friends.
On this night we were lucky enough to be joined by a new friend, Kate. Now, Kate seems like an ordinary girl. She was very pleasant, well spoken, and dressed quite nicely. The only thing is, that Kate … breathes fire. Oh yes, that’s right, I said F-I-R-E!
Now, I don’t think I have to tell you how cool it was to shoot a fire breather. However, since I am just that excited … I think I will. It was friggen awesome! Out there, in the pitch black, with two 4x5 field cameras, a flash bungee corded to a tree, and a motley lot of photography geeks. Life doesn’t get much better.
A special thank you to Kate for her combustible talents, and to Bess and Meg for yet another great night behind the lens.
Tomorrow, I will take a vote – more fire breather – OR – back to November surfing.
