Tonight, eager to bring our shutter fingers out of retirement, Bess and I rounded up a few of her BMX friends for a late night session. Illuminated by street lamps and my 580 EX, these guys pulled out all the stops.

Bess with her 15mm fisheye and me with a borrowed 1D Mark II hit the streets in hot pursuit of our two wheeled friends. Though, the cold weather and impending early morning at work caused the session to be cut short, we were able to catch some sick moments.

As I have said before, I greatly enjoy capturing the moments that happen behind the scenes. It’s in those moments, when no one is looking, that the facades come down and you truly get a glimpse of reality. Though there was some great action, I found that my favorite shots from tonight almost always were taken away from the action.

It will be interesting to see what Bess comes away with. I always find it interesting to compare images with photographers I shoot with. It’s astounding how two people can stand right next to one another and capture a completely different moment.

Make sure to stay tuned to her blog to see what she comes up with.
