Clandestine East End

A short walk from the parking lot from which I took the pier shots are the dilapidated remains of what used to be Portland’s bay side industry. Home now to a few yacht builders and winterized boat storage, this aging collection of brick yielded quite a few photo opportunities.

I came around this corner and was surprised to see two abandoned narrow gauge railroad cars, each brandishing their own distinctive color. My initial reaction was to run over and frame up a minimalist shot incorporating just the two cars. However, I ended up opting for a wider shot, making sure to incorporate the tagged door.

The lesson for the day: no matter what the weather presents, sun, rain, or unyielding cloud cover, make the best of it!
