City of Blinding Lights | 04:09AM Feb 02, 2008

Tonight we see another shot from my previous night of J walking and debauchery.

The best part of the night was the numerous people who, while waiting to turn left, rolled down their windows to ask what I was shooting. I had everyone from an elderly man to a college age teen, all of whom curious about photographic intentions. It’s amazing how much attention one can gain just by crouching in the middle of a median with a tripod.

I processed this shot from a single RAW file, no HDR, no multiple exposures, only curves adjustment layers. Topped off, of course, by a wee bit of curvy cross processing.

The lyrics are from the U2 song ‘City of Blinding Lights.’ My decision to pair them with this image came to me while processing. As I adjusted the contrast these words are what came to my mind. For me, bringing out the truth, that this scene is ugly and therefore beautiful.
