Autumn at its Best | 05:21AM Oct 26, 2007

Today, we’re back on the Bates campus. This time a bit further down the quad in front of the ever-present Gorham Library. I am not sure exactly what made me shoot this spot as a panoramic, however, after stitching it together I sure am glad I did.

For me, this shot really sums up my experience walking around campus. The gorgeous colors, dramatic sky, and imposing academic structures all coming together to create a wonderful atmosphere. There is just nothing like autumn in New England. Makes me want to sit down by a warm fire with some pumpkin pie and apple cider.

In any event, processing here is kept at a bare minimum. Simply open, stitch the five shots together, and drop on a few curves adjustments to add some contrast in the sky, leaves, etc.

This shot definitely goes down as one of my favorite panoramic compositions. I just love the feeling it captures, at least for me. In fact, that’s an interesting question to pose. What feeling does this shot hold for you if any at all?
