Last night I challenged you all to alter your perspectives. And, though I stand by my words, I don’t want you to think that the only merit-worthy photos are taken while hanging off a building. Sometimes it can be as easy as turning out the lights.
If you really want to change your perspective—to witness a complete transformation in your environment—just wait twelve hours.
Take our local athletic stadium. During the day, it’s home to our city high school’s football, soccer, and track teams. It has played host to special events and memorable games. However, after the fans leave, after the lights go out, it takes on an entirely new identity.
Cloaked in darkness, the field loosens her girdle. She lets it all hang out. There’s no competition alone on a field. No whistles blowing, no clocks ticking. No limits. Her tried and true stories of gridiron glory inundate the senses. Standing there, on her 50-yard spine, you can almost feel the sweat, hear the bones crunch, taste victory’s sweet flavor, and choke on the bitterness of defeat.
Everything looks different at night. Places change when you’re there alone with the darkness. Sometimes they can change you.
