Since attending Lightroom Live Tour last week in Boston, I have been singing the praises of Scott Kelby as well as the program. As a result of this valuable experience, I have decided to share part of the seminar with you.

One segment of the day-long seminar included a live studio shoot. Scott shot a vase of flowers using a fantastic new lighting system. The lighting, produced by Calumet, was strobe quality but in a hot light fashion. This means that the quality of light was fantastic but instead of firing on signal, it was constant and adjustable. Since the light was constant, Scott allowed those of us who had brought our cameras to come up on stage and shoot the vase.

The seminar was fantastic! Scott has an uncanny ability to speak about anything Adobe. He can teach even the most advanced techniques yet still inject his appealing sense of humor. I never find myself bored during his seminars. And when dealing with computers, even in the design world, it can sometimes be difficult to stay focused. Should any of you ever have a chance to attend one of his sessions, either live or online, I highly recommend them.

In any case, both of these shots are straight out of Lightroom. Very little was done in post production, other than white balance and minor curve adjustments. I really enjoy the perspective of these images as they show what’s going on behind the lens as well as in front of it, a vantage point that is rarely seen.
