Today’s image is yet another homage to Jay Maisel. Jay’s words have truly transformed the way I see the world. I now look for composition, color, and most importantly light. You would be amazed what you begin to see when you look for light.
Today’s shot is a perfect example. I took this image inside the restaurant that was featured in yesterday’s post. The thing is, that I didn’t see this glass and think, “Oh, now there’s a shot!” Much the contrary, I saw how gorgeous the light was coming through the windows, and said what can I use to capture that light. The glass turned out to be a great subject.
I also enhanced the light by using the same split toning technique that I used on my Boston images, adding a bit of yellow to the highlights and a bit of blue to the shadows. But, once again this image would never been taken if I hadn’t taken my camera into the restaurant with me.
