In Memoriam | 04:07AM Apr 09, 2007

I have finally returned from my week at Photoshop World, in lovely Boston Massachusetts. What a fantastic experience! The classes, instructors, and fellow conference attendees were all very inspirational. Though most of my days were spent inside the conference hall, being in a Boston with a camera is always a great opportunity.

While wandering through the streets, I was fortunate enough to meet several of Boston’s finest street photographers, and pick their brains. I took their advice and took the opportunity to work on my street photography. I will be posting several shots from the trip over the next few days. Hope you enjoy.

Today’s image was taken at the Holocaust memorial in Boston’s historic north end. These glass pillars, etched with the identification numbers of those who perished in Nazi death camps during WWII, rise up some 3 stories. Steam rises up through the glass pillars from vents located at their base, the glass and steam really create a unique visual effect. I used a cross processing technique on these images. Though the effect originates in the color darkroom, I find it often times helps add a distinctive and gritty feel to digital images.
